Friday, July 20

Rainy Friday and many tube lines were closed. Michael went into the book store near Starbucks to buy a Paris map. He said the downstairs had flooded, squishy carpet under his shoes. Evidently most of the flooding of towns was happening northern parts of the UK.

Before we headed out to see the Othello at the Globe Theatre Michael snapped these shots of Grace & I looking out the window of our fourth-floor flat. The stairs have been keeping us in shape.

We did take our first black cab ride to the Globe due to the tube line closing. The cabbie took us past Buckingham palace but it was too fast to snap a photo. Looked like the flag was flying so I think that means the Queen was at home. Othello was amazing but they don’t allow photography during the production. These photos were taken before the play actually began.

During the first act we were aware of some activity in the lower balcony directly across from us. A woman had passed out and her seat mates sought help. Every medical personnel within range came running. All the while the actors on stage had to just keep going. We saw someone giving CPR to the woman and feared the worst. She was ultimately taken out by wheelchair and everyone was able to resume watching the play.
